MACK BROWN IS A BROOKLYN-BASED BUTCH
Mack builds precise new musicals, plays that challenge our collective moral compass, and theatre that is trans-genre and transsexual. Their rehearsal ecosystems yield unmistakably deliberate work; forged in collective ownership, mutual flourishing, and rigorous attention to detail.
Their work has been developed around the city with Ars Nova, Roundabout Theatre Company, New York Theatre Workshop, MCC, and Fault Line Theatre. They were the Roundabout Directing Fellow for RTC’s 2022-23 season, and currently work as Lead Facilitator of the Roundabout Directors Group. Mack has been an associate and assistant director on and off Broadway to directors including Bartlett Sher, Trip Cullman, Jess McLeod, Connor Gallagher, and David Mendizábal. Mack is a current NYU Tisch Drama Gender Expansive Mentor, an NYCLU Artist Ambassador, and works at Convergence Magazine with grassroots organizers and activists to produce media that sharpens our collective practice.
Most summers, Mack serves as an Associate Artistic Director to the students at The Summer School for the Performing Arts in Massachusetts. 2025 is their 20th summer with the program, and their Boston accent always comes back.
